Artist Bio:

Connor Galaz, Age 21

Huntington Beach, CA

For as long as I can remember I’ve been making artwork. It’s something that I love to do, and something that I have an unwavering passion for.

I studied one year of art and design at Cal Poly SLO where I cultivated my passion for  painting specifically, and learned a lot of art history which helped shape my inspiration and artistic style.

My favorite medium is oil paint. I find this medium to be the most versatile and immersive, and the results almost always come out as something interesting. 

I love Impressionism, and I try to emulate that movement in my style as much as possible, so with that, I admire the big names of that movement like Manet, Monet, Renior, and Degas. However my biggest inspiration is Van Gogh, I love his style, and have a deep connection to many of his paintings. 

Growing up in HB has allowed me to be very comfortable with the Ocean. I love to surf, bodysurf, and just go swimming. Doing these activities helps me feel connected with my hometown and is an outlet of joy and freedom. 

Connor's message for young, up and coming artists 

Always be creating, there’s nothing more freeing than self expression. No matter the creative outlet or medium, there is no limit to what you can make. Making art also allows you to connect with other people in such a profound and awesome way.

Always be driven, create daily, and don’t let others mess with your artistic voice, because your art is worth being made.
